Metaverse security is a thing because security is still a thing…
With all this talk about the metaverse and Web3.0, it’s easy (always too easy it seems) for security to become an afterthought, instead of a before-thought, or even a during-thought.
So, please. Let’s discuss METAVERSE SECURITY. Even if you still have no idea what the metaverse is or what the “Web 3.0/Web3” is, you must understand that being online on the Internet exposes you much like you are exposed the very moment you leave your house.
Once you leave the domain and sanctuary of one’s home, we are exposed and take measures to mitigate risks and privacy. We wear clothing to protect us, yes, and also to shield our most private areas from being exposed to others. In a big city, you are normally cautious of your surroundings. These heightened senses tend to increase if you are with loved ones and the primary guardian of them. But we are all aware that there are more risks to be aware of and to guard against than if we were inside our homes or domiciles.
That is the way we should think in regards to the internet connection coming into our homes and increasingly all-around surrounding us.
Stepping into the metaverse is like stepping out your front door. Do you do a little check when you leave the house, you know, to make sure you have everything? Perform similar checks when you step into the metaverse.
Now that being said, one doesn’t simply step into the metaverse (or not yet at least). As we know, the metaverse is something that is continuously being created over coming years to decades. What’s being laid now is the ground work, the foundation, the pillars that will be built upon like applications were built on computers built on electricity and so forth and technology winds itself backward to the invention of the wheel or the discovery of fire. Take what you will from this or nothing at all.
But as the metaverse will be further iterations of the internet itself, or the way we use/interact with the internet.
